WHAT OUR PATIENTS ARE SAYING

John Miller
September 29, 2021.
Have been treated by two therapists (Becca and Brenna) for back muscle spasms. They are both very competent, excellent "bed side manner", professionalism and skill. Their therapy and advice is improving my quality of life. Would actively seek treatment from them again if/when necessary.

Vertigo or vestibular issues can make a person feel dizzy or out of balance. There are many causes of dizziness including:

  • Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV)

  • Vestibular hypofunction

  • Orthostatic hypotension

  • Medication side effects

Physical therapists are trained in evaluation and treatment of dizziness and balance disorders with treatments ranging from strengthening and balance exercises to Vestibulo-Ocular Reflex (visual) training.

Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) is a common cause of Vertigo. Symptoms often occur with changes in head position such as looking up or down or changing positions in bed. Vertigo symptoms are often described as room-spinning dizziness that lasts less than one minute. Symptoms are typically brief and can vary in level of intensity. Physical therapists are trained in evaluation and treatment of BPPV with canalith repositioning maneuvers.

BPPV Symptoms:

  • Dizziness

  • Sensation that you or the room is spinning

  • Loss of balance, instability

  • Nausea

  • Vomiting

If you are experiencing symptoms of dizziness or impaired balance, physical therapy can help! Feel free to call our office for more information or to answer any questions specific to your needs.
